SERVICES AT ST. LEONARD’S
Traditional Holy Communion service with organ, hymns and a short address. It is a wonderful opportunity for those who appreciate a quiet space to encounter God as his word is preached and the elements of bread and wine are shared. Although there is no specific provision for them children are welcome at this service. There is a crèche area available for the very young.
This is a service aimed at the whole family. We have a blend of modern worship songs, hymns, prayer and teaching, followed by refreshments and the opportunity for prayer ministry. We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of every month. Young people and children have the opportunity to leave part way through to attend groups suited to their age and stage. For more information on the groups see our pages outlining our activities for children and youth. Crèche facilities are available throughout.
On the first Sunday of the month we meet for prayer as a Benefice. The style of prayer meeting varies but the aim is always the same: to worship God and bring the needs of our church, community, nation and world before our loving Heavenly Father. Check the events calendar for the venue, which is either St.Leonard’s or St. Peters church.
Roughly three times a year we hold a Taizé style service in the chancel of St.Leonard’s church. This is a simple, reflective and quiet service using simple songs to help us draw near to God in worship and prayer.
Check the events calendar or with the Church Office to find out when this is on.
An occasional quiet reflective time with music, a short talk, testimonies and opportunity to receive prayer for healing. Our hope is to see more people coming for prayer and to see God working and healing in different ways, overflowing into everyday life and the community.
Once a term the youth put on a Sunday evening service, which, whilst planned and led by the youth, is designed to be for the whole congregation. The informal service is relaxed, interactive, and lively but also includes opportunities for quiet reflection and prayer.
If you miss the Sunday services or want to receive encouragement mid-week from word and sacrament we have a mid-week communion service on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. We hold the service in the chancel of St.Leonard’s. If Tuesday is more convenient you are more than welcome to join in with the St. Peter’s mid-week communion, also at 9.30am.
