In the rhythm of the church year, we have entered the season of Trinity. In the Book of Common Prayer this season runs for 25 Sundays before the year resets with the advent of…Advent! It’s almost half the year! Now it is not expected that we dwell on the theme of the Trinity for the entire season but it did occur to me that it might not be such a bad thing to have a go. The understanding of God as Trinity is possibly the most important doctrine of our faith. It’s implications are numerous and glorious. It is really, really good news for us and our world that God is eternally Father, Son and Holy Spirit. So over the next few weeks I will be sharing some thoughts on how the Trinity shapes our understanding of who God is, who we are and why our Triune God is worth celebrating. I don’t think we’ll make it to 25 but we’ll see!
